Henry crosses the finishing
line at the World Championships
2002, Cancun, Mexico
When Henry was a student he had an old road bike which he intended to use as he always had to get from A to B. It was spotted by a pro cyclist in freshers’ week who was in the same halls of residence at Durham. The pro cyclist, Ali Reid, suggested that Henry join him on some of his training rides so that he would not get too bored.

Baffled by the concept of using a bike for any other purpose than for transportation, Henry was persuaded give it a go. One year later Henry had used the most part of his second student loan to get a proper road bike. That was 1997.
A few years later Henry crossed the finishing line at the 2002 Triathlon World Championships, Cancun, Mexico. Today Henry is one of the UK’s top elite road cyclists.

Triathlon & Cycling are surprisingly accessible sports, most gyms have bikes, treadmills and a pool. It is also very beneficial to be goal driven - training for a purpose helps enormously with motivation.
